Playing with my new cameraphone....
I'm back!!!!
I have just had no motivation lately...I have also had my fair share of migraines lately, which I think is due at least partly to the weather.
Tomorrow I am going to SL and I am hoping to catch up with some people.......it should be busy in town because it is Halloween weekend. The only problem is I can't really drink unless I can find some place to stay! Not that I need to get totally shitty, but it would be nice to have a few! Oh well, I don't care...there have been many nights when I have gone out and had nothing to drink. It is not the end of the world, and I will feel better the next day!!!
OK....as always...some observations......
I think, as many people do, that stores put out Christmas stuff WAY too soon. I will say though, that they have some awesome stuff at Wal-Mart this year!
Today I found one of the best Christmas things......PEPPERMINT STICK ICE CREAM! That stuff is awesome, especially with Hershey's syrup. And I can have ice cream in my new apartment because I have a brand new refrigerator! Little things, I know! My apartment in SL had a really old freezer and things always went bad before I could finish them.
When I first moved here, I was worried that this apartment was going to be too small, but I love it. I love having my own entrance, off street parking, etc. Also, it is way quieter here....weird, huh? My only complaint is that I have no place to put all my clothes, so they end up everywhere. I do have a closet and it is pretty full, but it also smells funky and therefore makes my clothes smell funky. It isn't anything really nasty like mildew, but it still bugs me. When I get the time I am going to take everything out and spray the heck out of it with that new Febreze stuff and see if that works. The bigger problem is bedding. I refuse to put my sheets in there because then I smell it when I go to bed.
Hopefully I can get all that organized over winter break. I am not taking any classes during the winter break because they are not really offering anything I need or want.
I have to sign up for my spring classes starting on Sunday. We register for classes online, so I need to get signed on ASAP. I want to take this Real Estate Course that has limited availability, plus a Business Law course, Cost Accounting, and I need to figure out what I am going to take to fulfill my Gen Ed requirements.
I really hope that next semester is better. I want to get my education so bad, but I am afraid that school is just not my thing!I just keep reminding myself that it will pay off and that I don't want to have to work at jobs like the one I have for the rest of my life!!!!
I was watching the news today......and the dumbasses were talking about "Flexitarians. GIVE ME A BREAK!
I got the following info from www.cbass.com/flexitarian.htm:
While people who never eat meat, poultry or seafood are estimated at 3% (about 5.7 million), those who at least occasionally eat vegetarian food may be up to 40% of the population. According to the AP piece, the growing number of part-time vegetarians has had a huge impact on the food industry. “In recent years the market for vegetarian friendly foods has exploded, with items such as soy milk and veggie burgers showing up in mainstream groceries and fast food restaurants,” Hirsch wrote. Health food markets such as Wild Oats or Whole Foods, which cater to vegetarians, but also sell wonderful meat, fish and poultry are popping up everywhere—and for good reason.
Suzanne Havala Hobbs, a dietician at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, credits the growth of flexitarianism to a better understanding of the diet-disease connection. “Whether you make a commitment to eating strictly vegetarian or not,” she told the AP writer, “cutting back your dependence on meat is something most people acknowledge they know they should do.”
Another perspective is that vegetarians are more likely to insure an adequate intake of protein if they don’t avoid the complete protein found in meat, fish and chicken. That’s the view of Mollie Katzen, a cookbook author and founder of the Moosewood Restaurant, an mostly vegetarian eatery located in Ithaca, N.Y. She advocates a flexible vegetarian-based diet. “I don’t feel it’s wrong if you’ve got a great big plate of vegetables,” she told Hirsch, “[that] your protein is from a healthy, happy chicken, or a grass-fed cow.”
That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If you eat meat you are not a *&^%$##@ vegetarian!
Flexitarian is an insanely stupid term. I would say that these people are healthy eaters, etc. If they are "Flexitarians", what the heck do you call a person like me for example who could never in a million years give up red meat? I do not understand why our society needs to put labels on things. Give me a break! If you do not eat meat, you are a vegetarian or a vegan. What is the PC term for a meat eater? Wait. Never mind, I don't really care.
I am just so sick of the state of things. I admit it, I am a news hound. I read pressrepublican.com, thechamplainchannel.com, wnbz.com, adirondackguide.com (The Emptyprise's extremely sad excuse for a website), and courttv.com daily. I am not kidding. I read all of those everyday.
Here are a couple of the more obnoxious stories I have noticed lately...
-A woman is suing her drug dealer because she had an overdose of crystal meth. She says that she was a recovering addict and that her dealer is a bad man who was using in front of her. She has been left with some permenant physical ailments. Sorry, I have ZERO sympathy for her dumbass. Her mother is also a party to the lawsuit and says ""We know we're never going to recoup our losses. It's more of a suit to send a message and make it safer for the kids," she said. "My daughter lived, but someone else's might not."

That lady is also a dumbass. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Crystal meth will never be "safer for the kids". It is a DRUG, if you choose to use them, you are taking a huge risk. That is not to say that I think what the dealer is doing is right, it just pisses me off that she is acting like a victim. AND I thought that you couldn't sue for something involving illegal activities, but apparently people have succeeded in these kinds of cases before.
There is another case where a bartender is going to prison for involuntary manslaughter after a woman took the "Stoplight Challenge" where a persom drinks three drinks, one yellow, one green, and one red. The woman ended up dying. No one forced her to drink it. I do think that bartenders need to do what they can to prevent people from driving drunk, but there is also the issue of personal responsibility. I guess that there probably should have been some consequences for the bartender, but again, I think it is an issue of personal responsibility.
This case can be seen at: http://www.courttv.com/trials/taped/scott/background_ctv.html
Well, I guess I have rambled long enough. I will stop now.

Observations
1. Gas prices are still insane. It was over $50.00 to fill up today! That SUCKS! It used to cost me $13.00 to fill up Celeste! (My first car....1986 Chevy Celebrity)
2. Women should NEVER wear jeans without pockets on the back!!! They look TERRIBLE. I guess maybe if you had an absolutely perfect butt you may be OK, but I have seen a lot of women wearing them lately, and they just look BAD. Even on women who don't have bad figures! Wait. Why the heck am I noticing women's butts? Ha Ha. I think that I probably noticed one, and now I am subconsciously trying to prove my own theory....
OK, I guess that is only two things, but I wanted to write something!
